Branding
From SecularPortal
Branding is important in any form of marketing and has the extra benefit of making members feel like they are really part of something. It also does a lot to support the idea that your society is professional, something often missing from student societies.
It is important that you present a unified brand - pick a logo, tagline and colour scheme and stick with it.
Your logo
It's good practice to get your logo associated with everything you do, for example you can have signs with it on to put on the meeting venues and also include it in PowerPoint templates for talks.
Clothing
Students love hoodies and t-shirts so getting society clothing is a great way to promote your society. It's great to get your committee wearing it round campus and often people will stop them and ask about the society.
Miscellaneous
Eye-catching and innovative items will always help people to remember your society. These are only limited by your imagination and how weird you're prepared to look. Here are some examples from AHS member societies:
- Giant society banners (Leeds Atheist Society)
- Atheist-themed toy monkeys (University of Liverpool Atheist Society)
- Giant flag/standard (Oxford Secular Society)
- can anyone think of more?
