The Humanist Society at the University of Edinburgh, also known as the HSUoE is a student society associated with Edinburgh University Student Association.
History
Founded in February 2007 by former president Roger Redondo and former vice-president Tim Mills, and formally ratified in July 2007 HSUoE is surprisingly, a new Society at the home town of David Hume.
With 48 paid members on 2007/2008 and more than a hundred subscriptions to our weekly newsletter, HSUoE reaches a small proportion of the estimated 25,000 students at the University.
The Humanist Society aims to establish a positive social environment for UoE students who are rationalists, non-theists (agnostics or atheists), humanists, or skeptics; to enrich UoE campus life by sponsoring educational events and fostering student dialogue on matters of faith, science, and reason; as well as to engage students in issues of national and international import surrounding freedom of conscience and secular education.
