Letter to a Christian Nation

From SecularPortal

Letter to a Christian Nation is a book published in 2006 written by Sam Harris. It is a follow up to his previous book The End of Faith.

Unlike other books on this topic, it is short and concise, consciously imitating the style of early American tracts like Thomas Paine's 'Common Sense'. Consequently, it is addressed directly to the reader (who, as a member of the Christian Nation of the title, is assumed to be a believer) and sets out an argument for rational and critical thinking and against organised religion.

Although you will find greater depth and more complex arguments in other books, 'Letter to a Christian Nation' is a great book to lend someone who is having doubts about his/her religious faith, or to convince someone that it is absolutely necessary for the irreligious to stand up and be counted.
