The Simonyi Professorship of the Public Understanding of Science is a chair at the University of Oxford. It was created in 1995 for Richard Dawkins following an endowment by the Hungarian Computer Scientist, Charles Simonyi. Dawkins retired in 2008, and the chair was taken over by Marcus du Sautoy.
